Amy’s dance journey began at the age of five, studying Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, and Hip-Hop. From the very first class, she fell in love with the freedom, creativity, and energy that dance brings, which is a passion that’s never faded.
By the age of eight, Amy was competing in solo performances and soon after became a student at Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts. Throughout her training, Amy consistently achieved outstanding results in both competitions and dance examinations, including distinctions and special awards. A highlight of her early career was performing in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
After high school, Amy pursued a Diploma in Child Services, driven by her passion for working with children. Her work in childcare included roles supporting at-risk youth and children with additional needs across Sydney and the Illawarra. With a deep sense of social justice, Amy is committed to making a positive impact in young people’s lives.
Amy’s professional dance career saw her performing across Sydney and internationally. Upon returning to Australia, she completed her Certificate of Ballet Studies through the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and became a fully registered RAD ballet teacher. She has since taught a wide range of dance styles in both Sydney and the Illawarra. In addition to her dance credentials, Amy is a qualified fitness instructor and certified Pilates instructor, expanding her ability to help students of all ages build strong, healthy bodies and confident minds.
In 2011, Amy founded Awaken Dance & Fitness Academy with a clear vision: to create a dance school that’s truly different — one that empowers every student, celebrates individuality, and encourages confidence, self-respect, and joy in movement. She believes that dance should be for everyone, whether your goal is a professional career, creative expression, or simply staying active and having fun.
As Director, Amy brings over a decade of teaching experience and a lifetime of passion. Her approach is nurturing, inclusive, and focused on helping every student awaken their full potential.
